Leo-Z

Born Leonardo De Bernardini, Leo-Z is a music composer, multi-platinum songwriter-producer, arranger, programmer and pianist, located in Los Angeles.  His works span a diverse range of styles from the score for Tom Hanks' Futuristic Web-series "Electric City” (winner of the Streamy Award 2013 as Best Drama) to the dark comedy score for Mini-  Series “Supreme Tweeter”(actor-producer Harry Lloyd (Game Of Thrones, The Theory Of Everything, Manhattan).  His compositions also grace the imaginative fairy tale for Ferragamo's White Shoe film, a 24 minutes art-film directed by Mauro Borelli a long time collaborator, illustrator and visual artist with Francis Ford Coppola and Tim Burton.  Leo has also been involved in successful collaborations with artists such as Josh Groban, Nathan Pacheco, David Archuleta.

Born in Bologna, Italy, Leo was mentored by Mauro Malavasi, legendary producer (Chic, Luther Vandross, Change, Andrea Bocelli, Lucio Dalla).   After producing , arranging and co-writing with major italian Artists (Elisa, Lucio Dalla and Andrea Bocelli, among the others), record labels (Fonit-Cetra RCA, Pressing-BMG and Sugar-Universal), and his appearance at the Festival Di San Remo as pianist composer and producer of the song “Oceano” for Lisa, he moved to Los Angeles and started working alongside prestigious international Orchestras such as the London Philharmonia and the San Diego Symphony.  

He has performed and recorded with world class musicians such as Eric Rigler (Braveheart, Titanic), Tina Guo (Inception), Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos) in the most prestigious Recording Studios: Capitol Studio Los Angeles, Air Studios and Metropolitan Studio in London, East West and Henson Studios in Los Angeles,  to name a few.

Leo was named music director, pianist and arranger for Nathan's Pacheco’s show "Introducing Nathan Pacheco" which aired on PBS and was shot at the BroadStage Santa Monica.  The program aired between 2012 and 2013 throughout North America and was released as a DVD on Disney/Pearl Records.

Leo has just finished arranging, producing and mixing a full Christmas album for Nathan Pacheco released on Deseret Books (Nov 3, 2017) and includes Medieval and Sacred songs as well as modern classics. The album is recorded in Hollywood and features top players such as Pete Korpela (The Lion King, J.Groban), Èru Matsumoto (Shanghai Philharmonic, Skrillex), Gina Luciani (Penny Dreadful, Planet Earth II) and Andrew Synowiec  (M.Bubble, Frozen OST), and Eric Rigler (Titanic, Braveheart). He is also completing his debut instrumental album, Materia Prima, seven Compositions for Piano, Upright Bass, Bass Flute and Two Violas, collaborating with some of the best musicians in Los Angeles, including Flutist Gina Giuliani and Violinist,Violist Molly Rodgers (Hans Zimmer).

Leo is also producing songs for new Mexican New Pop-Folk Sensation “Ismir Muñoz” , and preparing for the Nathan Pacheco Christmas Tour.  

Leo will be starting the production of Korean classical Artist “Unknown Dress”  for El Music/Universal in December 2017.
